Collaboration with Geovin on New Fumo Collection

Things have been super busy in my camp with a host of exciting client projects and new collaborations. One such project I want to share was working with Geovin, a Canadian family-run furniture company celebrating its 20th anniversary, to help create marketing images for their brand new collection.

I enjoy working with Geovin on customizing pieces from their collections for clients. They’re an easy and accommodating team to work with that provides great craftsmanship and value, and I also love that they have an environmental conscience too. They employ low emission practices in their manufacturing and use reconstituted wood veneers made from certfied sustatinable forests in their products.

When I was approached to help to create roomsets for Fumo, Geovin’s new collection of stunning sleek dining and bedroom pieces, I was excited to take on this fun new challenge. Working at the magazine I was often tasked with creating a room shot in studio to tell a specific story but working directly with a manufacturer put a fun new twist on the experience. I had to create environments that showcase the beauty of the new pieces, but also give retailers and designers some inspiration on the types of spaces the pieces can be used.

I love the clean lines of the Fumo Collection and wanted to showcase how versatile the pieces are with the different roomsets. Even though the line is quite contemporary, I love how it can be integrated into a more traditional environment too, so I started with a Paris apartment–inspired bedroom with paneled walls and herringbone floors to illustrate this idea. I love the tension between the architectural details and antique pieces like the gilded mirror with the modern furniture. The natural finish on the nightstands and chest is so elegant and it looks crisp when paired with the black 48” bed.

For the second roomset I created a bedroom in a loft space with polished concrete floors and painted white brick to show how perfectly at home the pieces are in a more urban space. I used the argento finish, as we all know grey is still the favourite neutral these days, and played with contrast by using a light fabric on the 60″ headboard. These modern lofts never seem to have enough storage so it’s great that the Fumo Collection includes three different sized dressers to work with and I showcased the largest dresser here with more airy nightstands.

The third room is a sun-lit dining room in a converted industrial space. The dining table and sideboard look so sharp in the argento finish and pair beautifully with the trendy linear brass light fixtures that are a continuing décor trend. The straight lines of the upholstered dining chairs add some warmth to all of the wood pieces while still preserving the modern feel of the collection.

Look for the Fumo Collection this Fall at select retailers and through trade accounts across North America.
